The Emilia-Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix takes place on the 18th of May. It takes place at the Autodome internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. It is the first of two grand prixs in Italy and the first race of a triple header with Monaco and Barcelona. The track is 4.909 km long with 19 turns. The lap record is 1:15.484 set by Lewis Hamilton in 2020. The race has 63 laps and is 309.049 km long. There is 1 DRS zones and 1 detection points.

The first GP at the track was held in 1981 as the Italian GP it was then renamed the San Marino GP in 1981 and continued until 2006 under that name. It was brought back in 2020 as the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix due to COVID and reducing the countries and tracks they went too. The 2023 GP was cancelled due to flooding affecting the region. Since 2020 Max Verstappen has won 3 of the 4 races that have been held there.

Monza is a home grand prix to the baby of the grid, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who grew up in Bologna. Kimi who was part of the Mercedes young driver program, was given the Mercedes seat after Lewis Hamilton left to go to Ferrari. Kimi has had a fantastic start to the season, including getting his first sprint pole, becoming the youngest driver ever to have a pole in any format. Kimi got his first F1 podium at the Canadian Grandprix but has some bad luck so far this season.

Monza is also a home race for Scuderia Ferrari HP. Who are based in Maranello. Ferrari are F1s oldest and most successful team with 16 constructors titles and 15 driver titles. However they have not won either title since 2008 when they won the constructors. They have had a bad start to the season with just a sprint win in China, and then sprint podium in Miami for Hamilton and a podium in Jeddah, Monaco, Spain, Austria, Spa for Leclerc. Their team principle is Fred Vasseur and their drivers are Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.

It’s also the home race for Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, they are the junior team to Oracle Redbull Racing. They are based in Faenza. They joined F1 in 2006 as Scuderia Toro Rosso, before changing their name to Scuderia Alpha Tauri in 2020 and then finally in 2024 they changed to the current name. VCARB have had a mixed start to the season but overall fairly positive. They have already had a driver change with Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson switching seats, with the former being demoted back to the junior team from Redbull. They’ve also changed team principles after Laurent Mekies was promoted to Redbull after Christian Horners sacking. Isack Hadjar got his first podium and the teams first since 2021 when they were Alpha Tauri, last weekend at the Dutch GP after he finished 3rd. Their team principle is Alan Permane and their drivers are Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar.
