This is the first of the recipes from drivers home countries who don’t have home races. Most will be posted during summer break but with two weeks until Spa thought I’d post this one now.
New Zealand is the home country of Visa Cash App Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson. Lawson’s F1 debut came in Zandvoort 2023 has a replacement for Daniel Riccardo who broke his hand in FP2. He drove 5 races for Alpha Tauri in 23 while Riccardo recovered, including winning his first F1 points in Singapore. It was another year until Lawson drove in a F1 race when VCARB replaced Riccardo permanently, with 6 races to go. During that time Lawson scored points in Austin and Brazil. He was announced to replace Checo in the Redbull seat for 2025 however after 2 races he was demoted back to VCARB, since then he’s struggled at times but finished P8 in Monaco and then a Career best finish of P6 in Austria, where he both Qualified and finished the race as the top Redbull family driver.
