7 time champion of the world Lewis Hamilton, has struggled to settle in at Ferrari having left Mercedes where he’d spent 12 years and won 6 of his world titles at, at the end of last year. His best Grand Prix finish this season as been 4th in Imola, he’s had more success in the sprints with a win in China and a podium in Miami. He has 105 wins to his name and 104 poles and 202 podiums. He’s won Silverstone 9 times the most recent was last year.
Mclaren’s Lando Norris, had high hopes coming into the season, with the team having won the constructors title last year. He started off strong with pole and win in the first race of the season. Followed up with a good run of podiums minus Jeddah and then pole and win in Monaco. He’s favorite to win his first world title this year. Norris has wins and poles. He’s got the best chance of the home drivers to win Silverstone.
Mercedes driver George Russell has has a great start to the season. Having been promoted to the lead driver after Hamilton left for Ferrari, he finds himself teammates with a 18 year old Rookie. He’s managed to get a few podiums already this season, and will hoping to get his first home grand prix podium this year. Russell has 3 wins, 5 poles and 19 podium finishes.
HAAS rookie driver Ollie Bearman, has had a mixed start to the season. Picking up a few points in what isn’t the greatest car but having some tough times at the back of the grid too. Bearman was a super sub last year, firstly in Jeddah for Ferrari after Carlos Sainz was taken to hospital with appendicitis, then for HAAS in Baku after Kevin Magnussen got a race ban, and then again when Magnussen was ill in Brazil. He picked up points in both Jeddah and Baku.
As well as the four drivers Silverstone is the home grand prix to 3 teams, Mclaren, Williams and Aston Martin.
Reigning constructors champions Mclaren have started the season of strong, and have a good lead in the constructors. They’ve won out of 11 races so far. Started by Kiwi racing driver Bruce Mclaren in 1963, first entering F1 in 1966 and winning their first grand prix in 1968. Mclaren have won 9 constructors titles, and 12 drivers titles. Despite being set up by a Kiwi they are registered as British team. Their team principle is Andrea Stella and their drivers are Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Atlassian Williams racing, have had a great start to the season having already got points so far this season which is already more then in the entire of last season. Williams was started by Frank Williams in 1977 becoming a constructor in 1978 ( frank had some failed attempts of starting a team earlier) Since then they’ve won 114 races, 7 drivers titles and 9 constructors titles. They won their first grand prix in 1979. Their team principle is James Vowels and their drivers are Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz.
Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team, joined as a constructor most recently in 2021 having attempted to join in 1979 and 1960 but had such failed races during this time they left Formula one. In this time Aston Martin, have got 9 podiums and 528 points, their best finish in the constructors is 5th, which they achieved in both 23 and 24 their best points finish was 23 though when they got 280 points and 8 of their 9 podiums. The team is owned by Lawrence Stroll who’s son Lance Stroll drives for the team. Their other driver is Fernando Alonso and their team principle is Andy Cowell.
